NEW EXHIBITION
Changing Climate : Changing Weather
The Monmouth Museum's newest exhibition "Changing Climate : Changing Weather" opened in October 2010 in the Becker Children's Wing. "Changing Climate: Changing Weather" will explore the related, but unique sciences of climate and weather. This hands-on exhibition will demonstrate how changes in our climate cause changes in our weather. Interactive elements will guide visitors through the history of weather and climate change studies through an in depth-look at the greenhouse effect and our earth's current challenge of global warming. The exhibition will also provide visitors with a greater understanding of what they personally can do to reduce their own carbon footprint by saving energy, using alternative energy sources and learning to "Reduce, Reuse & Recycle!" Come explore, be inspired and have fun!

The Becker Children's Wing opened in 1988 with a generous gift donated by the Becker family as a memorial to Sherburn M. Becker III, a Museum Trustee. This 6,500 square foot wing is designed as a comfortable, hands-on learning environment for elementary school children ages 7 to 12 years. Exhibitions are based on school curriculum subjects using science and cultural history in stimulating and thought-provoking ways. Past exhibition topics have included Western Migration, Cultures, Native Americans, Egypt, Dinosaurs, the Human Body, Energy, and Space Exploration.
In the Becker Children’s Wing, learning is an active process and exhibitions are designed to offer children an interactive engagement with a subject. Visitors can begin their tour with an orientation in our ampitheater, explore the exhibition, experiment with many hands-on activities and visit the children’s gift shop. Because of the research and development costs involved, exhibitions in the Becker Children's Wing are generally of a two-year duration. School groups are escorted by professional guides, most of whom are retired teachers. More than 37,000 children participate each year.
Group tours must be arranged in advance by calling Marion Kanaga, Education Coordinator, at 732-747-2266. Group rates are available.
