WELCOME. The Monnmouth Museum is A Museum of Ideas, a children's Museum, an adult's Museum, a family Museum.
The Monmouth Museum is one of the top five museums in New Jersey. A center for education and culture, and a focal point for dynamic ideas, the Museum features changing exhibitions and programs which appeal to a variety of interests.
Changing exhibitions featured in the Museum’s Main Gallery and the newly created Nilson Gallery present a wide variety of art in all media. Historical and scientific subject areas are also explored on a regular basis. Organizations such as the Monmouth County Arts Council, the New Jersey Watercolor Society, the Sculptors Association of New Jersey, and local arts organizations present group shows at the Museum. Guest curators are invited to assemble works in their special fields from artists, private collectors, and museums and corporations throughout the Northeast.
The Monmouth Museum provides a unique and exciting opportunity for artists to showcase their work with its New Jersey Emerging Artists Series. The artists selected for this Series represent the diversity of talent in the State and demonstrate their creativity in a wide variety of media. Gallery talks scheduled during the exhibitions offer artists the opportunity to share insights on their work.
Each of the programs at the Museum is designed with the goal of increasing curiosity and learning. Since many of our visitors are children who come with their families and schools, the Museum has created two children's exhibitions - the WonderWing for children age 6 and under, and the Becker Children's Wing for children ages 7 - 12.These exhibitions are designed to make learning fun by employing hands-on, participatory activities which engage and focus young visitors. The WonderWing provides interactive learning in an Under-The-Sea adventure. The Becker Children's Wing offers programming geared to school curriculum. Some exhibitions present fascinating looks at local history, flora and fauna. Others, like BLAST OFF! A Space Journey features an air-inflated planetarium.
The Monmouth Museum encourages community engagement and enrichment through programs including Light Lunch and Lectures, Gallery Talks, demonstrations, workshops and tours to cultural and historic institutions in the tri-state area. Take advantage of these educational programs and resources for all ages at the Monmouth Museum.
Monmouth Museum is believed to have the largest Sewing Bird Collection in the United States.
