Thursday, April 21 - Henri Matisse

Henri Matisse was a famous painter born in 1869. He went to art school in France and then he studied famous artists like Claude Monet and Paul Cezanne. They were using bigger brushstrokes with lots of color. Over time, his style changed and when he got older, he had trouble painting. He couldn’t stand up a long time so he would cut out shapes and called it “drawing with scissors.” He wanted to make people happy with his art!
