ABOUT MONMOUTH MUSEUM
Mission Statement
The Monmouth Museum’s mission is to educate, entertain, and inspire through dynamic exhibitions and programs in art, history, and science, fostering creative expression and lifelong learning for all.
About Us
The Monmouth Museum is a 15,000-square-foot cultural center and one of the largest independent museums in New Jersey, accredited by the American Alliance of Museums. Located in Lincroft, it has been a vital cultural and educational institution for over 60 years, serving Monmouth County and the surrounding region. Founded in 1963 as a “Museum of Ideas,” it was envisioned as a space where art, science, and history intersect, offering dynamic and inclusive programming for all ages.

Today, the Museum continues to fulfill this vision as a vibrant community hub, providing exhibitions, educational programs, and cultural events that celebrate New Jersey’s rich history and cultural diversity. The Museum hosts a rotating schedule of art exhibitions across three galleries, along with programming in two children’s wings, free events and workshops, and a robust portfolio of educational activities that serve over 50,000 visitors annually (2023, 2024).
These initiatives take place throughout the Museum’s many spaces: the Main Gallery, Nilson Gallery & Gift Shop, Becker STEAM Wing (which features: Innovation Lab, Green Arts Studio, Garrett Reisman Center for Air & Space, Fleischner Media Center and Paleo Lab), Wonder Wing, the Take a Book-Leave a Book Lending Library, and the Meyer Art & Nature Area.
