DINOSAURS: THE WORLD OF GIANTS!
ROARS INTO MONMOUTH MUSEUM IN DUNELLEN

Free Opening Weekend August 15 & 16
Features a New Prehistoric Exhibition

Something BIG is coming to Dunellen!

Monmouth Museum is excited to announce the opening of Dinosaurs: The World of Giants!, a new exhibition exploring the prehistoric world of dinosaurs. The exhibit officially opens to the public during a special Opening Weekend on Saturday, August 15 and Sunday, August 16 from 10 AM to 4 PM at Monmouth Museum’s Dunellen location, 266 North Ave., Dunellen, NJ 08812.

Admission and activities are free, and everyone is welcome!

Step Into the World of Giants

From the moment visitors enter, they’ll find themselves face-to-face with the prehistoric past, beginning with a dramatic T. rex skull and T. rex.

The experience then travels even further back in time to explore the ancient Earth itself. A display of gems and minerals introduces visitors to the geological story that set the stage for the age of dinosaurs.

From a dinosaur nursery, complete with nest and eggs, to Pteranodons overhead, the exhibit takes over the gallery space. Visitors will also encounter some of the exhibition’s biggest residents, including a Brontosaurus, Stegosaurus, and Minmi and can explore a Velociraptor fossil dig.

The experience concludes by inviting explorers of all ages to think like scientists themselves. A paleontology and microscope discovery area gives guests an opportunity to look more closely, investigate and learn how scientists use evidence to understand a world that disappeared millions of years ago.

“I wanted this exhibition to be more than walking into a room and seeing dinosaurs. We’re telling the story of their world, from the rocks and minerals that came before them to dinosaur eggs and babies, enormous giants, feathered dinosaurs and the connection to the birds we see today. My hope is that visitors of all ages walk through our exhibit asking questions, making discoveries and realizing just how much there still is to learn about our prehistoric past.”

— Erika Schaefer, Executive Director, Monmouth Museum

Free Dino Fun During Opening Weekend

As part of Monmouth Museum’s ongoing Free Weekend Workshop series, Opening Weekend will feature Dino Fun, with a hands-on dinosaur-inspired activity for visitors to enjoy during museum operating hours. The Museum will also offer additional workshops and the space can be rented for dinosaur themed birthday parties or special events! Guided tours are also available for groups/classes of all ages.

The exhibit is open through September 27th.
