About

As part of the Monmouth Museum's exhibit Native Americans of New Jersey: Past and Present, specialized community workshops will be led by members of the tribal communities represented. Join us for a series of workshops for all ages all summer long!

Using the Native American dugout canoe as touchstone, this workshop will explore the creative, artistic approach to problem solving that extends across time and culture. This workshop will be led by the artist behind the dugout canoe featured in Native Americans of New Jersey: Past and Present: Jason Stumpf!

Jason Stumpf is multidisciplinary artist based in Asbury Park, NJ. A woodworker for over 30 years, his work ranges from sculpture and furniture, to cabinetry and wooden boats. His work is influenced by a fascination with structure, minimalism, and materiality.
