Festival of Light: Selected Artists Announced
The Monmouth Museum is pleased to announce the artists selected for Festival of Light, a juried exhibition opening this fall at Monmouth Museum Dunellen.
Inspired by Diwali and the Festival of Lights, the exhibition brings together artists exploring light, resilience, identity, cultural tradition, celebration, home and belonging through contemporary art. The exhibition reflects both traditional and contemporary perspectives while creating space for cultural storytelling and connection.
We are grateful to every artist who submitted work and thrilled to welcome this group of artists to Dunellen.

Festival of Light was juried by award-winning artist, curator and cultural advocate Nupur Nishith, whose work brings the traditions of Mithila (Madhubani) painting into a contemporary global context.
Nishith's own artistic practice bridges cultural heritage and contemporary expression, making her an especially meaningful voice in shaping an exhibition centered on tradition, identity and the many ways artists interpret light.
The exhibition is co-curated by Nupur Nishith and Erika Schaefer, Executive Director of the Monmouth Museum, with a shared focus on cultural storytelling, artistic excellence and community connection.
We invite the community to celebrate the artists and experience Festival of Light at the opening reception.

The exhibition will remain on view October 2 through November 15, 2026, including Diwali on November 8, giving visitors an opportunity to experience the exhibition during the holiday that inspired it.
