MUSEUM STATEMENT
The Monmouth Museum is pleased to present WONDERLAND, a juried exhibition inspired by winter and the many ways artists experience the season.
We are looking for work that captures what winter looks and feels like, from the warmth of a fire on a cold day to a snow-covered landscape that turns the familiar into something unexpected. The work may be drawn from observation, memory or imagination and may be representational or abstract.
All mediums are welcome.
WONDERLAND will be presented at Monmouth Museum’s Dunellen location from November 20, 2026 through January 10, 2027.
The exhibition will be juried by the Museum’s Executive Director to create a cohesive, high-quality presentation. Artwork is not guaranteed acceptance. Selections will be based on artistic merit, originality, craftsmanship, interpretation of the theme and how well each piece contributes to the overall vision of the exhibition.
Through this exhibition, the Monmouth Museum hopes to discover artists working throughout the region, create new connections and continue building an active and welcoming arts community at our Dunellen location.

The call is open to artists age 18 and older who live or work in New Jersey.

Monmouth Museum membership is not required.

Each artist may submit a maximum of three entries.

A nonrefundable application fee of $30 for up to three entries is due at the time of submission.

Payment of the application fee does not guarantee acceptance.

Up to two works may be selected from each artist.

Accepted artwork may be delivered in person or shipped to the Museum. Detailed delivery and shipping instructions will be provided upon acceptance. Artists are responsible for all shipping and return-shipping costs.

Accepted artwork must remain on view for the full exhibition period.

All accepted artwork must be available for purchase.

The Museum reserves the right to remove sold artwork before the exhibition concludes if necessary.

ARTWORK SPECIFICATIONS

All artwork must be original and created by the submitting artist.

All mediums are welcome, including painting, drawing, photography, printmaking, collage, fiber, mixed media, sculpture and small installations.

Artwork must be family-friendly and appropriate for Museum audiences of all ages.

Two-dimensional work must be framed, wired and ready to hang. Sawtooth hangers and cleats will not be accepted.

Three-dimensional work must be stable, professionally presented and safe for public display.

Artists are responsible for providing any specialized hardware or equipment required to display their work.

No substitutions may be made after submission.

Sales and Commission
All exhibited artwork must be available for purchase. The Monmouth Museum will handle all sales and retain a 30% commission. Payment will be issued to the artist within two weeks of the purchase.
Media and Publicity Release
The Monmouth Museum reserves the right to photograph accepted and exhibited artwork and to use submitted artwork images for exhibition-related publicity, social media, media outreach, educational materials and website promotion.
Condition and Insurance
Artists delivering artwork are responsible for unpacking and inspecting their work at the time of drop-off. By leaving artwork with the Museum, the artist acknowledges that it has been delivered in acceptable condition. Any existing damage must be identified before the artwork is accepted.

Artists are responsible for insuring their artwork while it is in transit to and from the Museum. The Museum’s insurance coverage begins after accepted artwork has been received and is in the Museum’s care, custody and control. Coverage ends when the artwork is released to the artist at pick-up.
Packing Materials
Artists are responsible for unpacking their artwork at drop-off and repacking it at pick-up. Due to limited storage space, the Museum cannot store boxes, crates, bubble wrap or other packing materials during the exhibition unless shipped. Please remove all packing materials after delivery and bring appropriate materials when retrieving the artwork.
Late Pick-Up Policy
All artwork must be picked up on January 11, 2027. A $10-per-day late fee will apply beginning January 12. The Museum is not responsible for artwork left after the scheduled pick-up date. Artwork not retrieved within one month will be considered abandoned and will become the property of the Museum.
