There is great news for all of our ocean lovers, curious explorers, and families searching for something magical this winter. Our wildly popular Smithsonian traveling exhibition Narwhal: Revealing an Arctic Legend has been extended through March 1. We are thrilled to keep this incredible experience at the Monmouth Museum a little longer, giving more visitors the chance to discover the secrets of these remarkable Arctic whales.
The exhibit features a life sized narwhal that stretches nearly 20 feet across our gallery. Guests can measure themselves next to a real narwhal tusk, explore Inuit culture and traditions, learn how narwhals survive in one of the most extreme environments on Earth, and step inside our illuminated Arctic dome for a full sensory experience. It has become a favorite destination for school groups, families, and anyone fascinated by the natural world.
The extension also brings exciting opportunities throughout the winter season. Visitors can enjoy hands on activities, weekend storytimes, special crafts inspired by the Arctic, and plenty of educational programming tied to marine science and local ecology. This exhibit connects beautifully with the wildlife we see here along the New Jersey coast, from visiting seals to migrating birds. It invites everyone to consider how our local environment is connected to ecosystems around the world.
Thank you to the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service for making this extension possible. We look forward to welcoming new and returning visitors as we continue to celebrate the wonder of the narwhal. Bundle up, bring your curiosity, and dive into this unforgettable Arctic adventure at the Monmouth Museum through March 1.
