GRAND OPENING OF DUNELLEN LOCATION MAY 2ND AT NOON!

We’re thrilled to share that the Monmouth Museum is opening the doors to our brand new location in downtown Dunellen on Saturday, May 2, 2026 at 12:00 PM. This marks the first expansion in the Museum’s 60-year history, and we couldn’t be more excited to welcome you in.

Join us for a ribbon cutting at noon with local officials, followed by a chance to explore the space, meet the artists, and experience something completely new.

Opening Exhibition: The Cardboard Show

If you’re not already familiar with Porkchop and Brad Hoffer, you’re in for an amazing treat! On view May 2 through July 5, The Cardboard Show transforms the space into a glowing, immersive environment built entirely from cardboard. These Asbury Park-based artists take an everyday material and turn it into something unexpected, playful, and surprisingly beautiful. Think oversized botanical forms, light filtering through layered structures, and an installation that feels alive. It’s creative, a little surreal, and completely engaging for both kids and adults.

A New Kind of Museum Experience

The Dunellen location brings together two storefronts to create a vibrant, accessible arts space right across from the Dunellen Train Station.

We’re building something that’s not just about exhibitions, but about COMMUNITY.

Visitors can expect:

  • Free admission during the opening exhibition May 2 - July 5th

  • Free weekly storytime and craft for young children

  • Free, drop-in workshops for all ages

  • A welcoming, creative space to explore again and again

We’ll also be introducing rentals and birthday parties soon, giving even more ways for families to connect with the Museum.

Looking Ahead

This is just the beginning. We’ll be announcing upcoming exhibitions and calls for art shortly, including a Dunellen-focused members exhibition.

We’re incredibly grateful to the New Jersey Economic Development Authority (NJEDA) for making this project possible through the A.R.T. Phase II Grant Program, and to the Borough of Dunellen for their support and partnership.

As Mayor Jason Cilento shared, the Museum’s presence will bring “energy, creativity, and cultural engagement” to the downtown and we’re honored to be part of that momentum.
